On May 1st, 1963 Papua was officially and legally become part of Indonesia. The legal process of the transfer of Papua from Dutch colonial to the UN (UNTEA/The United Nations Temporary Executive Authority) and than from the UNTEA to the Republic of Indonesia was conducted well and in line with international law.

“DAP chairman urges Papuan to commemorate the momentum of May 1st as a day of praying,” DAP member of Biak, Yan Pieter Yarangga told the press in Biak.

Thousands of Papuan attended day of praying in Biak. The ceremony was run in a good way and peace, though it was raining hard. Rev. John Koibur who led the ceremony said that all Papuan should realize that Papua is part of Indonesia. *(wpnn)
