Free Papua Organization (OPM) shot and wounded three civilians and a soldier in three separate attacks in Indonesia’s Papua province, police said on Wednesday (06/06).
The OPM attacked two men riding on a motorcycle in the provincial capital Jayapura on Tuesday, Papuan deputy police chief Paulus Waterpauw said. They were in critical condition.
In a separate incident in Jayapura, the OPM shot a 25-year-old soldier who was riding his motorcycle on Tuesday night, the police chief said. He suffered a gunshot wound to his chin.
On Monday, OPM shot and wounded a 16-year-old high school student.
No one has been arrested for the latest attacks, which came less than a week after a German tourist was shot and.
Waterpauw said he believed that the attacks were linked and elements of the separatist Free Papua Organization could be involved.
“These attacks are intended to create an impression that there are violations of human rights in Papua by the TNI (military) and police,” Waterpauw said.(*wpnn)
