OPM Raids Police Station in Papua

A group of men of Free Papua Organization (OPM) raided a police station in district Yalimo, Papua province and stole five firearms and some ammunition.

Police officer I Gede Sumerta Jaya, a spokesman for the Papua Police, said that the raid occurred on Thursday (15/11) afternoon. He added that the attackers seized rifles and ammunition.

An eyewitness in Apalapsili, who declined to be identified, said that the attackers came away with five Mauser rifles and some 40 rounds of ammunition.

The source said that the OPM attacked the police station when no officers were there.

The OPM has waged insurgency actions against Indonesian government for decades.(*wpnn)
